About the Program

The Leadership Institute (Formerly Certified Leaders Institute) allows students to receive a certificate in leadership training after completing a series of two workshops. The first Institute will occur each fall and will cover fundamental leadership skills. The second Institute occurs each spring and will cover advanced topics such as critical social analysis of leadership.

Skills Learned

The Leadership Institutes cover topics such as:

  • Running an effective meeting
  • Communicating effectively
  • Setting goals
  • Working with others
  • Ethical decision making
  • Empowering others
  • Emotional intelligence

Who Should Attend

Any student who wants to learn practical leadership skills should attend. Students who serve as leaders in any student organizations are highly encouraged to attend. This program is open to both undergraduate and graduate UTA students. Please note, the attire is business casual.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

Once registered, students must pay the registration fee by the advertised deadline in order to attend the Institute. The fee is a subsidized cost to students which covers participant breakfast and lunch, and general program costs. Students who do not show up or cancel after the payment deadline will not receive a refund under any circumstances.
