About Alternative Breaks

Alternative Breaks fosters active citizenship and personal growth of our participants through thoughtfully planed service trips, trainings, and events. Our program gives you the opportunity to participate in service projects in communities across the nation and engage in social issues through strong direct community service, education, and reflection to heighten social awareness and create sustainable change in the community.

Trip Information

We will host 3 Alternative Breaks trips during Spring Break of 2024. These trips will be five to seven days, including travel time.
No. All students must stay together during the trip. No early or late departures will be allowed. Additionally, participants are never allowed to travel in their personal vehicles at any time during the trip.

Leadership Information

Site Leader applications are available beginning in late of February through early April each spring. Previous Alternative Break participation is preferred.

Students are able to apply for the Student Director position when it opens in April 2024. Previous Alternative Breaks experience is preferred, but not required. Students must be in good standing with the University and The Follett Student Leadership Center at UTA.
