Pharos Uniprint 8.1 Upgrade Windows Registry Edits

By Summer 1 2010 all existing Pharos 7.2 clients will have to be upgraded to 8.1 clients.  This will be accomplished by creating new printer packages for each lab. This is beyond the scope of this document. The existing Pharos 7.2 clients are compatible with the Pharos 8.1 system but requires one or more registry keys be changed on all the lab computers that print using Pharos.

Existing Pharos 7.2 Clients will require a change to one or more of the "PrintServer" and "printserveraddress" values of the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pharos\Popup Client\LocalPrinters\<printer>] registry key. where <printer> is a unique value for the lab(s).  The value for "PrintServer" must be changed to "PHAROS1" and "printserveraddress" must be changed to "129.107.57.57".

Example Before:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pharos\Popup Client\LocalPrinters\AB Color Printer]
"PrintServer"="Boston"
"printserveraddress"="129.107.30.100"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pharos\Popup Client\LocalPrinters\Arch Plotters]
"PrintServer"="Boston"
"printserveraddress"="129.107.30.100"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pharos\Popup Client\LocalPrinters\Arch Printers]
"PrintServer"="Boston"
"printserveraddress"="129.107.30.100"

Example after:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pharos\Popup Client\LocalPrinters\AB Color Printer]
"PrintServer"="PHAROS1"
"printserveraddress"="129.107.57.57"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pharos\Popup Client\LocalPrinters\Arch Plotters]
"PrintServer"="PHAROS1"
"printserveraddress"="129.107.57.57"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pharos\Popup Client\LocalPrinters\Arch Printers]
"PrintServer"="PHAROS1"
"printserveraddress"="129.107.57.57

Follow this procedure to upgrade Pharos client computer from 7.2 to version 8.1.  The process assumes you have administrator privileges and if DeepFreeze is installed the machine is in a "thawed" state.:

  1. Click Start -> Run, enter 'regedit' at the
