SecureDoc Full Disk Encryption (FDE) - Password Change

After your desktop or laptop has been encrypted with SecureDoc's Full Disk Encryption (FDE), change your UTA NetID password as described below:

Windows

On Campus:

  • Plug your computer into the UTA wired network.
  • Log into your computer as normal.
  • Once start up is complete, press Ctrl-Alt-Del.
  • Select Change Password.
  • Select the user's NetID
  • You will be prompted for your current password and then asked for your new password once by Windows and once by SecureDoc. 

This process synchronizes your new NetID password with the password you use to log into the FDE computer.  Please verify that your password change is successful by locking your computer and then unlocking it with the new password.

Off Campus:

  • Log into your computer as normal.
  • Once start up is complete, connect to the UTA VPN.
  • Press Ctrl-Alt-Del.
  • Select Change Password.
  • Select the user's NetID
  • You will be prompted for your current password and then will be asked for your new password once by Windows and once by SecureDoc.

Please verify that your password change was successful by locking your computer and then unlocking it with the new password.

Macintosh

These instructions only apply to Mac computers that utilize network login (current NetID and password) instead of a local account.

On Campus:

  • Plug your computer into the UTA wired network.
  • Log into your computer as normal.
  • Once start up is complete, open Apple icon, System Preferences, Accounts.
  • Select Change Password.
  • You will be prompted for your old password and then will be asked for your new password. (You may be prompted to update the Key Chain password).
  • You may need to wait 5 to 15 minutes before using the new password.

This process synchronizes your new NetID password with the password you use to log into the FDE computer.  Please verify that your password change was successful by locking your computer and then unlocking it with the new password.

Off Campus:

  • Log into your computer as normal.
  • Once start up is complete, connect to the UTA VPN.
  • Once start up is complete, open Apple icon, System Preferences, Accounts.
  • Select Change Password.
  • You will be prompted for your old password and then will be asked for your new password. (You may be prompted to update the Key Chain password).
  • After you have successfully changed your password, disconnect from the VPN

Please verify that your password change was successful by locking your computer and then unlocking it with the new password.
