The University of Texas at Arlington

The Educational Talent Search Programs at UT Arlington provide free college, career and financial aid information to over 1,000 junior high and high school students each year. Talent Search identifies and selects students who demonstrate the potential for post-secondary enrollment and provides them with the motivation and support to enroll in a program of post-secondary education (college, university, technical or vocational school) after high school graduation.


Bianca Woodruff: TRiO Achiever Winner for Talent Search, Attending Stephen F Austin in the fall, planning on going into nursing Member of Helping Us Help Her, PALS, and Perfecting Diamonds.

Jordan Rodriguez: Attending Texas A&M in the fall, planning on being a member of the Corps. of Cadets, majoring in mechanical engineering, National Hispanic Scholar.

Olivia Rook: Attending Texas A&M in the fall, planning on studying pre-med and eventually becoming a plastic surgeon, captain of varsity volleyball team, member of key club.

Daniel Martinez - Summit International Preparatory High School. Accepted to UTA Course Of Study – Environmental Science. A/B Honor Roll, Key Club, Theatre, Speech and Debate Team, Soccer, Tennis. Volunteer – Mission Arlington, Clean up Legacy Park, Discover Corp ( Tutoring Students). Career Goal – To work for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

2014 16th TASSSAP Student Leadership Conference Thursday, July 31, 2014 – Saturday, August 2, 2014 University of North Texas

Students interested in attending this conference will submit a 500 word essay on leadership. 4 UTA TRIO Talent Search students will be selected. Choose one of the following topics:

1. What personal qualities make someone a successful leader?
2. What have you done at home or at school to be considered a leader?
3. Name a person who you believe to be a leader and what they have done to inspire you to be a leader.

Essays are to be submitted to Mr. Torres by Friday July 18, 2014. Email Essay as an attachment to Students will be selected and informed by Wednesday July 23, 2014.

Who: Junior High Students (Rising 7 – 8 and 9th grade)
