MavsMeet Convocation kicks off 2016-17 academic year

Celebrate the start of the academic year with the MavsMeet Convocation at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at College Park Center.

Ya'Ke Smith, assistant professor of film and video, will give the keynote address, followed by remarks by campus leaders and musical entertainment.

Following the convocation, faculty and staff can mingle at the AfterParty on The Green at College Park.

Parking affected by Move-In Day

Parking spots for Monday's Move-in Day will affect part of parking lot F10, the Health Services Center lot, and College Park Central and South parking garages. Volunteers will help students unload vehicles all day, starting at 8:30 a.m. Alternative parking sites include the Maverick Parking Garage—at no extra cost—and S47, south of the Life Science Building and Pickard Hall. Maverick Speakers Series tickets available

Tickets are available to author and religious scholar Reza Aslan in the Maverick Speakers Series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Texas Hall.

The lecture is free for faculty, staff and students, and costs $5 for non-UTA visitors.

Register your vehicle for new parking permits

General parking permits and reserved space permit renewals are available now for faculty and staff. To purchase a parking permit, visit uta.edu/pats and click on Obtain a Permit under the big blue P.

Sign up for a table at Maverick Cook-out, Activity Fair Day

University departments, programs, and student organizations are encouraged to host an information table at the Maverick Cook-out Featuring the Activity Fair Day on Wednesday, Aug. 31, on the University Center mall. Register online by Monday, Aug. 29.
