Undergraduate Major Declaration Information

All entering students majoring in Architecture, Interior Design, and Sustainable Urban Design are admitted into the Basic Studies program for the major of interest.

All entering students majoring in Architecture, Interior Design, or Sustainable Design are into the Basic Studies program of Architecture, Interior Design, or Sustainable Urban Design. As students in the Basic Studies program of ARCH, INTD, or SUD, students complete the 1st and 2nd Year courses for their program of interest course sequence while completing the Core Curriculum. Students can declare major for the fall semester only.

To declare a major, students must have completed the following requirements for admission to a degree program:

  1. Applicants must have a 2.8 cumulative GPA in all courses at UTA as well as 2.8 GPA in all courses within their major. 
  2. Students must complete all the Basic Studies courses in their program of choice (1st & 2nd year ARCH, INTD, or SUD). 
  3. Students must complete the Core Curriculum as stated in the Degree Requirements for the program.
  4. Complete major declaration form, which is provided by the CAPPA undergraduate advising office.
