Head Over Heels

Head Over Heels is a musical featuring the songs of The Go-Go’s and based on Philip Sidney’s The Countess of Pembroke’s Arcadia. The royal court of Arcadia is threatened by the mystical Oracle of the Delphi with the loss of its “Beat,” the divine power that ensures the kingdom’s. prosperity. King Basilius, whose title is at stake, forces the members of the royal family and court to the woods to escape the Oracle’s seemingly unavoidable prophecies. Through a plot containing usurped kingship, unlikely lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, Head Over Heels explores unconditional love, no matter someone’s gender or sexual identity.
We Got the Beat
In the musical HEAD OVER HEELS, the BEAT represents the heartbeat of Arcadia's community. You will find busts- pictured left- positioned around UTA campus leading up to the first performance of Head Over Heels. During performances, they will be moved to the theatre spaces and become a part of the HEAD OVER HEELS design.
In the style of 1980s punk graffiti artists like Lady Pink, Jean-Michel Basquiat or Keith Haring, we invite you to use a paint marker to write one word that you want the UTA community to be.
Busts can be found in the University Center, at the Intercultural Student Engagement Center across from Startbucks, in the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance office in Fine Arts North, and roaming around campus every Friday.
