Mac OS X Energy Saver and Screen Effects Settings

Description:

The following set of instructions outline the steps involved in setting up the display sleep settings.

How to Use:

  1. Click on Apple icon in the upper left hand corner and select System Preferences.

  1. Click on the Energy Saver icon.

  2. Make the following changes:

    • Set the computer to never sleep if inactive.

    • Check Separate timing for display sleep and set to 20 minutes.

    • Uncheck Separate timing for hard disk sleep.

  3. Click on Show All icon in the upper left hand corner and click on Screen Effects icon. 

  4. Click on the Activation tab and set the time to 10 minutes.

You can wake your sleeping display by moving the mouse or pressing any key on the keyboard. It is normal to experience a brief delay before the monitor reactivates.
