About OIT Cohorts Program

OIT cohorts program will provide the following to 10 selected freshman undergraduate students accepted in UT Arlington in BS or BBA undergrad degrees with intended majors Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.

  1.  25% of cost for housing and meals for the student.
  2. Opportunity to work with the different units within the Office of Information Technology, and gain hands-on experience.

  The students will work in different departments in OIT gaining critical skills and work experience in Networks, Project Management, Web Programming, Enterprise Applications, Application support, Operational Security, IT Infrastructure etc.

 

Who can apply?

The program is open to incoming undergraduate freshman students at UT Arlington (UTA) starting in Fall’ 2015. This program is funded by Office of Information Technology.

 

How does the student benefit by this program?

  1. The student receives 25% waiver on his/her housing and meals.
  2. The student also gains critical skills, experience and knowledge in all major parts of Information Technology including Networks, Project Management, Web Programming, Enterprise Applications, Application support, Operational Security and IT Infrastructure.
  3. Professional references and Industry experience by the time he/she graduates.

 

Eligibility Requirements

        Incoming freshmen students accepted in UTA to BBA, BS undergraduate programs intending to major in Information Systems, Computer Science or Software Engineering.

Retention Requirements                                                           

If awarded, in order to retain the scholarship, students must the students will have to work with OIT for 10 to 20 hours each week.

Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above, maintain minimum work standard.

 

Program Duration

Selected Students will receive the 25% housing and meals for up to 4 consecutive years, subject to their meeting the retention requirements described above.
