Cheer Tryouts

UT Arlington Spirit Groups will be holding our fall cheerleading and mascot tryouts on Friday, September 18th, and Saturday, September 19th.   

Tryout Requirements

  • Freshman/Transfer Students – Submitted application to UT Arlington by tryout date
  • Current Students:
    • Enrolled as a fulltime student at UT Arlington
    • Minimum cumulative and current GPA of 2.0
  • Current Health Insurance (proof required at Tryouts)
  • Tryout Application

SKILL REQUIREMENTS and Tryout outline

(Can go above and beyond requirements listed)

Tumbling

  • Standing Back Tuck
  • Toe Touch Back Tuck
  • Standing Pass of Choice
  • Running Tumbling Pass (must be a back handspring back tuck level or better)

Co-Ed Stunting (must be with participants trying out – no outside partners are allowed)

  • Two Stunts – judged on execution and difficulty level
    • Toss to Hands Liberty, Stretch, Awesome
    • Toss Stunt to the Top (straight-up, full up, rewind, etc)
  • At least one stunt with a Double Down Cradle

Group Stunting (must be with participants trying out – no outside stunt groups allowed; one Male per group)

  • Two Stunts – judged on execution and difficulty level
    • Preferred Stunts: Awesome, Liberty, Stretch, Arabesque
    • Use elite variations for entry into stunts (straight-up, full ups, rewinds, etc)
  • At least one stunt with a Double Down Cradle

Flyers

  • Be able to pull multiple body positions (Heel Stretch, Scorpion, Scale, etc.)
  • Double Down Cradles

THINGS TO MAIL IN 

  • Tryout Application
  • A full length picture of yourself (must be from head to toe)
  • Attach a copy of your most current transcript or acceptance letter

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Practice in the fall and spring will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12-3:30pm.
  • Workout sessions will be Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
  • Camp will be in July exact dates are TBA.
  • As a member of the Cheer Squad you are obligated to sign the one-year contract, and to fulfill the financial obligations that will be stated at the beginning of the season.
  • Scholarships are available.
