May 17, 2021

Dear Mavericks,

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday, May 13, that it no longer recommends fully vaccinated individuals wear masks or practice social distancing in most circumstances.

UTA is evaluating this guidance to determine if and how it will impact our health and safety protocols, which remain in place until further notice.

As a reminder, UTA has in place the following key protocols to help mitigate the spread of COVID‑19 on our campus and protect you and fellow students and employees:

  • Face-Covering Protocol: All students, staff, faculty, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and visitors are required to wear an acceptable face covering while on campus.
  • COVID‑19 Vaccines: UTA students and employees are encouraged to participate in COVID‑19 vaccinations if they are able. The University has established partnerships to provide access, free of charge, to the vaccine on campus and throughout the metroplex. Please visit the UTA COVID‑19 Vaccination Information and Resources page to access registration links and information for both vaccine opportunities.
  • Social Distancing: UTA strongly encourages social distancing to provide the healthiest possible environment. All campus common areas, including classrooms and dining spaces, will remain modified to facilitate social distancing.
  • Daily Self-Monitoring: The UTA mobile app provides a convenient, confidential tool to assist with conducting a daily self-assessment for COVID‑19 symptoms. You can download the daily self-monitoring checklist for easy access. If you are experiencing any COVID‑19 symptoms, please remain or return home.
  • Employee Remote Work: There continues to be an emphasis on minimizing on-campus presence by employees and on maximizing the use of telework where possible while ensuring business continuity. Please discuss with your supervisor the on-campus staffing expectations for your unit or department. See the UTA Remote site for tips on working remotely.

While this new guidance from the CDC is an exciting sign that we are beginning to emerge on the other side of this pandemic, we ask all Mavericks to continue to do their part to protect themselves and others.

The most up-to-date information about all things related to UTA’s response to COVID‑19 remains available on the Coronavirus Information website.

Sincerely,

John Hall
Vice President for Administration and Campus Operations
Co-Chair, COVID-19 Executive Task Force
