July 1, 2021

Dear UTA Community,

UTA’s plan for a full return to campus for the fall 2021 semester remains on track thanks to a continually improving outlook for COVID‑19 and the dedicated efforts of all Mavericks. As we move toward pre-pandemic modes of work and learning, we will maintain our commitment to the health and safety of our community by following protocols and best practices, detailed in the COVID‑19 Academic Year 21‑22 Campus Operation Plan.

The plan informs our on-campus operations for the coming academic year. A few key points are outlined below; please view the plan for complete details.

  • Face-Covering Guidance: The wearing of masks or face coverings is optional but encouraged, especially in crowded indoor spaces and for those not yet vaccinated.
  • Social Distancing: The University will relax its social distancing protocol on July 12, but we encourage all Mavericks to continue the practice where feasible.
  • Daily Self-Monitoring: All students, faculty, and staff, regardless of vaccination status, are advised to perform a health self-screening before coming to campus each day. The UTA mobile app provides a convenient, confidential tool to assist with conducting a daily self-assessment for COVID‑19 symptoms.
  • COVID-19 Testing: Anyone seeking a COVID‑19 test for proactive or diagnostic purposes can take advantage of UTA’s available testing options that are continually updated on the UTA website.
  • COVID‑19 Vaccinations: Students and employees are encouraged to participate in COVID‑19 vaccinations if they have not done so already. The latest information on vaccine opportunities can be found among our COVID‑19 Vaccination Information and Resources.
  • Cleaning: The Office of Facilities Management will continue to implement new measures and modify its cleaning protocols to minimize the spread of the virus and subsequent variants.

As has been the case throughout the pandemic, we continue to monitor the latest public health guidance and our plans remain flexible to adjust our activities as needed. The COVID‑19 Academic Year 21‑22 Campus Operation Plan includes indicators that will guide any decisions to decrease our on-campus presence or make modifications to the plan.

Thank you for your commitment to ensuring a safe campus for all Mavericks. We ask that you continue adhering to personal safety practices adopted throughout the past year to help ensure a safe and successful academic year for everyone.

Sincerely,

John Hall
Vice President for Administration and Campus Operations
Co-Chair, COVID-19 Executive Task Force

Lisa Nagy
Vice President for Student Affairs
