UTA Office of the President - Jennifer Cowley, Ph.D.

Aug. 10, 2022

Dear Mavericks,

This past weekend marked 100 days since I took office as the 10th president of UTA. Before my first day, I knew UT Arlington was an institution brimming with talent, innovation, and possibilities. In my first 100 days, you’ve shown me it’s all that I expected and so much more.

Since I arrived on campus, I’ve been fortunate to attend more than 100 events and countless meetings with members and friends of the Maverick family—including students, alumni, staff, faculty, academic and non-academic leaders, elected officials, and community leaders. Just this summer alone, I’ve met more than 5,000 members of our Maverick family. I experience great joy in getting to know so many of you, and these engagements allow me to understand your perspectives on UTA’s many strengths and opportunities as we work to chart our path to becoming one of the nation’s most inclusive and impactful research universities. I look forward to continuing to host conversations with academic departments, business units, and on-campus student and employee organizations as we transition into the fall semester.

We’ve launched a new section on my office’s website to help you stay connected with what we’re hearing, doing, and exploring related to our five strategic themes: People and Culture, Student Success, Research and Innovation, Alumni and Community Engagement, and Finance and Infrastructure. With your input and assistance, we’ve already begun to make positive changes on our campus.

This website will be the source for updates as we build upon existing and emerging efforts.

My next update will come at the start of the fall semester, and I’ll share more details on our strategic planning efforts and how you can be involved. Until then, the most important thing I can say is: thank you. Thank you for welcoming me into this Maverick family of innovative, hardworking, and passionate individuals. Thank you for all you’ve done to position UTA where we are today. Thank you for generously sharing your thoughts and ideas with me. Thank you for all you will do to turn the possibilities on the horizon into reality.

It’s always a great day to be a Maverick, but I am especially proud and grateful to be a Maverick at this moment in UTA’s history. I know that great things are to come.

Mav Up!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Cowley, Ph.D.
President
