Student Success

UTA has a long history of providing a quality education to a diverse population of students and offering access to that education throughout their lifetimes. For our students to succeed, we must focus on providing the resources they need to thrive, the support they need to graduate, and the skills they can use to find success after they leave our campus.

What We're Hearing

  • Create more cohesion and alignment between student affairs, enrollment management, and academic affairs
  • Expand financial support for graduate students
  • Expand engagement opportunities for students, with particular attention to those who live off campus and/or are parents

What We’ve Done

  • Departments have worked with the Division of Student Success to launch and expand peer-led team learning in high-enrollment introductory courses to improve academic outcomes for students starting STEM careers
  • College of Nursing and Health Innovation, University Analytics, and Civitas Learning piloted new AI solution for student retention and graduation success that would enhance advisors’ ability to provide more holistic advising sessions
  • Continuing Education expanded Canvas to support micro-credential badges for students and launched new instructional design models for graduate certificate courses
  • The Division of Student Success kicked off a task force to enhance advising across campus

What We’re Exploring

  • Enhancing the student experience and putting retention efforts at the core of our student success planning
  • Expanding experiential learning/high-impact practice in the Maverick Advantage program
  • Identifying ways to encourage continuous enrollment to support timely progress toward degree completion
  • Enhancing scholarship and financial aid efforts to recruit and retain students
