You chose us. We chose you. Now that you’re about to begin your graduate studies at UTA, we wanted to remind you of a few things to help you along the way. A more comprehensive guide for students is available from our Office of International Education.

ACCEPT YOUR ADMISSION

Log on to your MyMav account and accept your admission by choosing the accept/decline link in the Admission section of your Student Center. This reserves your spot at UTA.

COMPLETE IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTS

If you haven’t already, please complete your international immigration documents in order to have your I-20 issued.

APPLY FOR HOUSING

If you’re thinking about living on campus, apply as soon as possible. The housing application is free, and students are only asked to submit a deposit when they are offered a housing contract.

REGISTER FOR INTERNATIONAL ORIENTATION

You are required to attend a New Maverick Orientation program for international students in order to register for classes. You will learn about cultural adjustment, immigration regulations, employment, campus resources, academic regulations, class registration, and more.

Your graduate advisor will provide you with more information about your specific academic program, requirements, courses, and how to register for classes. Some departments even have orientation programs you may need to attend. Your graduate advisor will help you with all those next steps.

SUBMIT MENINGITIS DOCUMENTATION

All students under the age of 22 are required to be immunized against bacterial meningitis before they enroll at UTA. You can submit your documents to Magnus Health SMR through your MyMav Account.

REGISTER FOR CLASSES

Once you’ve been advised, you will be free to register for classes in your MyMav Student Center.

BUY YOUR BOOKS

You’ll need to purchase or rent books for your classes. You can review required textbooks in MyMav or at the UTA Bookstore.

GET A STUDENT ID

Visit the MavExpress Office in the University Center to get your MavExpress Student ID card. You will need an ID card to use the library, Maverick Activities Center, the Health Center, and more. You will also receive UTA discounts at local businesses.

ORDER A PARKING PERMIT

If you will have a car on campus or be driving to campus, you’ll need to purchase a parking permit.
