| Whereas | All aspects of this resolution shall remain strictly nonpartisan, unaffiliated with any political party, political candidate, or political action committee (PACs); and, |
| Whereas | Texas is known for record low voter turnout and registration, especially amongst voters aged 18-24, Hispanic/Latin American voters, voters with limited english proficiency, and voters without a college degree, and the University of Texas at Arlington has large populations of these; and, |
| Whereas | Many students at the University of Texas at Arlington are originally from surrounding Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, and Parker Counties; and, |
| Whereas | Some students from these areas are unable to register to vote in Tarrant County for a variety of reasons, and are also unable to reach their home counties during early voting or election day periods for a variety of reasons, therefore depriving them of the ability to vote, a basic right as a citizen of the United States; and, |
| Whereas | In most Texas counties, registered voters may vote anywhere in their county; and, |
| Be It Further Resolved That | The University of Texas at Arlington implement ride sharing so students can organize a carpooling arrangement, through processes such as communicating through MavEngage, in which a central body can keep track of all the rides shared between students and resolve any potential conflicts. |
