My research interests are focused on:
Macroecology, studying continental-scale patterns of algal abundance, diversity, and distribution.
Environmental ecology, assessing the effects of acidity and substrate instability on algal communities in Adirondack streams and aquatic ecosystem response to saltcedar invasion in the Rio Grande watershed.
Experimental ecology, investigating the effects of current and nutrient regimes on the diversity and spatial organization of algal communities in artificial streams.
