Description of Research

Research focuses on long-term stress responding and its mental and physical health consequences. Specific interests include identification of psychosocial variables that are amenable to change and that can be used to predict long-term stress responding (such constructs include intrusive thoughts, personal growth, optimism, coping, social support, perceived control, perceived threat, and trauma history). Research interests also include determining underlying neuroendocrine and neuroimmune mechanisms of chronic stress responding and examining the interactions between physiological responses and psychosocial risk variables. This research includes an emphasis on advanced models forlongitudinal data analysis. Current research focuses on both independent and collaborative research projects that examine psychobiological sequelae (including neuroendocrine and neuroimmune markers) in patients with cancer.
