General Interests:

  • Temperament and Emotion
  • Behavior Problems and Psychopathology
  • Quantitative and Molecular Genetics
  • Behavioral Assessment

Research Program:

I study individual differences in early temperament and emotion and links to concurrent and later behavior problems and psychopathology. Although much of my work focuses on children in infancy, toddlerhood and preschool, I am also interested in how early development in these areas extends longitudinally into middle childhood and adolescence. Substantive interests include etiology (quantitative and molecular genetics), temperament theory, behavioral assessment, and child development broadly defined. Currently, I am beginning a toddler study of temperament and psychopathology at UTA as well as analyzing secondary data on related projects with colleagues from Boston University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition, I manage the Laboratory Temperament Assessment Battery (Lab-TAB) and Toddler Behavior Questionnaire (TBAQ) assessments online at UTA. All Lab-TAB and TBAQ manual requests, training and consultation is handled by me and my staff.
