Introduction
In July of 2004, the program in Environmental Science and Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington changed its name to Environmental and Earth Sciences. While the program retains its interdisciplinary focus, the new name better reflects the knowledge and training provided by the program.
The Environmental and Earth Sciences program is designed to provide a graduate student an integrated, multidisciplinary education, nurtured through a carefully tailored degree program requiring a breadth of understanding and mastery of a spectrum of scientific and engineering principles. Among the goals is to provide students who have earned engineering or science undergraduate degrees a common ground for interdisciplinary communication, an understanding of the environment, and competence in a discipline that will enable him or her to evaluate and solve complex environmental problems.
