Farewell to Dean Doughty

UTA College of Education Dean Teresa Taber Doughty has accepted the position of dean at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Education, a move that will bring her closer to her family. Her last day at UTA is Thursday, March 16.

Teresa Taber Doughty, dean of the University of Texas at Arlington College of Education, has accepted the position of dean at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Education, a move that will bring her closer to her family. Her last day at UTA is Thursday, March 16.

Dr. Doughty has served as dean since 2016, leading the College of Education through a number of significant milestones, including national accreditation with the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation, a steady rise in national program rankings, and the launch of several new degree and certificate programs. She established key new roles to address recruitment, marketing, data management, and online education needs, leaving the college poised for future success in the preparation of Texas’ education leaders.
