How do universities provide support for people of color both during their time as undergraduates and later within their careers? Hear from two scholars studying the supports provided at higher institutions and successful mentoring practices that further contribute to career growth.
Panelists:
Jacolahn Dudley, Ph.D., Campus Manager, Lockheed Martin
Dr. Jacolahn Dudley is a recent graduate of the The University of Texas at Arlington where he obtained his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. Dr. Dudley's research focuses on the role of mentoring in the preparation and success of HBCU presidents. Currently, Dr. Dudley works in diversity, equity, and inclusion at Lockheed Martin as a Campus Manger where he oversees diversity hiring initiatives, programming, and engagement at Lockheed Martin’s HBCU partner institutions. Dr. Dudley is also a two-time graduate of an HBCU, Prairie View A&M University.
Trevor McCray, Research Associate, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Dr. Trevor D. McCray is a Research Associate working alongside the Networks and Cultural Assets (NCA) Project Team within the Division of Continuing Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He recently earned his Ph.D. in K-16 Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. His interest lies in deconstructing, disrupting, and decolonizing qualitative research within education surrounding people of color. He grounds his research in culturally based frameworks that allow affinity groups’ voices to be acknowledged and liberated by intentionally recentering their narratives.
