Greetings students!!

With finals around the corner, it’s time to start planning for next semester and the new year! 

This month is the Special Internship Edition.  That’s right! More internship opportunities for this upcoming semester than ever before.  Take advantage and apply as soon as you can!

Attached is a list of Spring 2022 legal/law-related courses being offered next semester.  For those considering the minor in Law and Legal Studies, each of these courses is applicable and would count towards the minor requirements. You’ll also find attached a flyer for one of the paid internships available this spring.

    PAID POLITICAL CAMPAIGN INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

     

    Prominent Dallas Attorney and UTA Alumnus Andrew Sommerman is currently seeking motivated, hardworking Campaign Interns to support his run for Dallas County Commissioner District 2.

    Proyecto Inmigrante Immigration Law Externship

     

    Proyecto Inmigrante is seeking students for a prestige externship opportunity to serve in their DFW office located at located at 832 S. Carrier Pkwy, Grand Prairie, TX 75051.  With connections in Washington, DC and governments around the world, Proyecte Inmigrante presents an opportunity for students to learn about many facets of representation within immigration law.

    In this externship opportunity, students will be conducting legal research and working directly with attorneys on real immigration cases from start to finish. Students will receive in-depth training on the fundamentals of Immigration Law, Citizenship, Waivers, Visas and DACA Renewals. This opportunity is specifically for students with a stated interest in learning about immigration practice. Ability to speak additional languages is a bonus but not required. Students will receive UTA course credit for the experience through select internship course offerings only. Opportunity for extended paid employment available for those who do well in the initial externship.

    Students will submit an application with current resume and a short statement of interest. Students selected for interviews will be notified before the conclusion of the Fall semester. Selected students will begin Spring 2022.

    Judicial Campaign Assistant/Volunteer (Unpaid)

    • Description: Support Attorney Turner as she makes her bid for Judge of Tarrant County Criminal Court 6 by working on her campaign team
    • Open Positions: 2-3
    • Hours: Flexible Hours – minimum 8/wk required for LLS students
    • Location: Multiple (Mansfield/Dallas/Fort Worth)
    • Minimum Requirements: Send resume.  Must have reliable transportation

    Tarrant County Judicial Internship

     

    Students are invited to apply for an internship experience with Judge Kimberly Fitzpatrick in the 342nd District Court of Tarrant County.  Students will have the opportunity to observe bench trials and high profile jury trials as well as potentially work with other associate justices in the civil and criminal courts in Tarrant County.  The internship will begin in February 2022 and will continue until May 2022.  This is an unpaid experience in Downtown Fort Worth.  Applications from all applicants are welcome. Priority will be given to LLS minors.  Finalists will be notified in December.

  • Full Tuition Scholarship Deadline Extended – Apply Now for Wayne Watts Scholarship For Aspiring Lawyers

     

    This scholarship is made possible by generous contributions from former AT&T General Counsel and prominent UTA alumnus D. Wayne Watts.  This scholarship is designed to provide a full tuition scholarship to students nearing the end of their undergraduate career at UTA who are looking to attend law school and become practicing attorneys.  Sophomore, Junior and Senior undergraduate students are welcome to apply.

    UNT Dallas College of Law Tour and Mock Law School Class

    UNT Dallas College of Law will be hosting a special private event and tour of their beautiful new law school for UTA Pre-Law students. Transportation will be provided from campus to the law school for students who register to attend.  The bus will depart at 12:30 and will return to campus at 4:30.

    For the Fall 2021 Admissions cycle, LSAC will host most of its Forums digitally so that any and all students can have access to critical resources and information.

    This is the nation’s largest law school fair and ALL law schools will be participating!  This is your opportunity to hear from admissions and recruiters at your dream schools.  LSAC will host a workshop for students preparing to take the LSAT where you will have the opportunity to hear directly from the test writers on how to excel on various aspects of the test.  You’ll also have the chance to participate in personal statement workshops and much more!
