Judith Anagbonu
Judith Sena Anagbonu is a Ph.D. student and Graduate Research Assistant in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana.
Judith brings 13 years of experience working with children and adolescents through teaching, guidance and counseling, school health, and girl-child education in Ghana. Her work involved addressing truancy and early school dropout, identifying students’ psychosocial needs, and coordinating support with educators and service providers. These experiences shaped her interest in prevention, early intervention, and schools' role in supporting children and families.
Her research focuses on barriers to adequate mental health support for school-aged children and strengthening the capacity of teachers, parents, and social workers to respond to children’s needs. She is particularly interested in how collaboration among schools, families, and community organizations can improve access to services and promote child and family well-being.
As a Child Welfare Research Center Scholar, Judith aims to contribute to collaborative research that identifies effective prevention and intervention practices and translates findings into practical support for children and families. Through this work, she hopes to inform policies and services that strengthen families, support communities, and create conditions for children to thrive.
