Grace Asabere

Grace Asabere, MSW, is a first-year Ph.D. student at the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Western Kentucky University, where she served as a Graduate Research Assistant and Case Manager at Bowling Green Junior High School. Her commitment to supporting refugee and immigrant families and the communities she serves was recognized through an Outstanding Field Placement Student Award, which she received during her graduate training. She was also nominated for two additional awards in recognition of her dedication to social work practice and her passion for serving communities.

Her research interests focus on parental absence, adolescent development, and intergenerational patterns of family disruption. She is also passionate about developing culturally responsive tools and approaches for working with immigrant and refugee populations. Grace’s work and research aim to advance social work research and practice by centering young people’s experiences, identifying protective factors that promote resilience, and supporting culturally responsive approaches to family and community well-being.
