Mercy Kalu

Mercy Kalu is a social worker and PhD student focused on aging and long-term care policy. She holds a Master’s degree in Gerontological Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Mercy has over eight years of experience working across nonprofit and community initiatives supporting vulnerable populations. She previously served as a Research Assistant at the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University, contributing to research on person-centered care in long-term care settings and Age-Friendly community initiatives. Her contributions to aging services have been recognized with the 2025 Long-Term Care Award. She is an ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP) and brings experience in program coordination and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and community-centered initiatives. Her research interests include family caregiving, long-term care systems, person-centered care, home and community-based services, and social policies supporting older adults and their families.
