2025 P&C Pulse Findings

In Fall of 2025 we administered the 2025 People and Culture Pulse Survey which served as an important off-cycle check-in between UTA’s full engagement surveys, helping the University to assess employee engagement, and clarify where continued action planning is needed as we prepare for the next full engagement survey in Spring 2027. Business unit results have been shared directly with unit leaders to support local review and continued action planning.

The 2025 pulse survey focused on select Gallup Q12 items tied to three parts of Gallup’s engagement hierarchy:

  • Basic Needs, (Q01: Expectations; Q02: Materials and Equipment)
  • Individual Contribution (Q03: Do Best; Q04: Recognition; Q05: Cares About Me; Q06: Development),
  • Teamwork (Q07: Opinions Count; Q08: Mission and Purpose; Q09: Quality of Work).

The pulse survey did not include the full Q12 set, excluding items such as overall satisfaction, best friend at work, progress, and learn and grow.

Overall, the findings show encouraging progress since 2023, with responses trending upward, reflecting meaningful campus-wide improvement in several areas of engagement and employee experience, but remained within Gallup’s 25th to 49th percentile band compared with similar R1 institutions. This means UTA is making measurable progress and building momentum among comparable institutions, while still having meaningful opportunity to strengthen its position over time.

The strongest upward movement was in recognition, followed by mission and purpose, feeling cared for at work, and feeling that employees’ opinions count. Some of this positive movement directly reflects the impact of campus-wide efforts launched in response to prior survey feedback, including initiatives such as the MavUp recognition platform and the introduction of the new UTA Values in 2025. Development support and the opportunity to do what one does best also improved, while commitment to quality work remained strong.

At the same time, the pulse survey helps clarify where continued focus can support further progress. Although mission and purpose improved compared with 2023, it remains an opportunity area alongside expectations and materials and equipment. These findings highlight where the University can continue advancing its work and building momentum in Basic Needs and Teamwork, helping inform the continued refinement of unit action plans as UTA prepares for the next full People and Culture Engagement Survey in Spring 2027.

We appreciate everyone’s continued commitment to strengthening employee engagement across the University. TCE will continue working with business unit leaders and engagement coaches to support interpretation of the results and ongoing refinement of unit action plans.
