Mavericks are bold difference-makers whose ideas need to be heard.
The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Speakers Series provides a forum for today’s brightest minds to examine the ideas, actions, solutions, and people that impact the world around us. In 2017-18—our 10th anniversary season—UTA welcomed alumni Lou Diamond Phillips and Roland Fryer back to campus, along with Anousheh Ansari, Michael Pollan, and Gretchen Carlson. In previous years, the Maverick Speakers Series has featured such renowned voices as Michio Kaku, Seth Meyers, Emmitt Smith, Soledad O’Brien, Bill Nye, Jane Goodall, and many more. You won’t want to miss a single event in our 2018-19 season, which features entrepreneur Graham Hill, actor and activist Terry Crews, Harvard professor Naomi Oreskes, animal conservationist Jack Hanna, and actor Anna Deavere Smith.
This isn’t your average lecture series. These are thought-provoking conversations led by innovators who make change happen. The Maverick Speakers Series is about making a difference, one big idea at a time. That’s what Mavericks do.
