Transfer students thrive at UTA

Veronica Levrie had a lot to consider when she started looking for a four-year educational institution to call home. A student at Weatherford College with two kids, she was looking not only for robust academics, but also the convenience and flexibility she needed to keep supporting her family.

“As a nontraditional student and a first-generation student, I needed all the help I could get trying to navigate the intricate college system,” Levrie says. “When looking at colleges, I needed a school with a good track record and a high-quality education that was close to home.”

She found what she was looking for at UTA. Now, Levrie is a nursing major with plans to minor in Spanish medical translation.

UTA is ranked No. 5 nationally by U.S. News & World Report for universities that enroll the most transfer students and has been recognized for helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The transfer-friendly accolades are useful for prospective community college transfer students searching for a university that best meets their unique needs. Staff at UTA have also worked tirelessly to serve as a national model of success in identifying best practices for transfer students.

“UTA has provided me the space to thrive,” she says. “I could not have picked a better school to transfer to once I finished community college.”
