No! Terry Scholars represent majors from many different Colleges, Schools, and Departments at UTA.

Yes, at least for your first year. In order to receive your scholarship and be a part of the program during your first full year, you are required to live on campus in the designated Terry Scholar Living Learning Community, located in Vandergriff Hall in the heart of the College Park District.

There is no application fee associated with the Terry Scholarship at UTA. You would only be responsible for the application fees that all students are responsible for, for example the admissions application fee.

Yes, to access Mav ScholarShop you must first be admitted. Applicants who have not been admitted cannot be considered. Mav ScholarShop is the UTA scholarship database where the Terry Scholarship application will be submitted.

No, it is not necessary to complete the current year’s taxes prior to applying. The application will ask income-based questions. These questions will be based on the previous year’s income.

It is not necessary to complete the FASFA prior to applying, but you will want to try to have it completed by January 15th (the state of Texas deadline). If you are selected for a final interview with the Foundation, they are going to ask you questions about your finances that will come directly from your FASFA information.

No student will be able to receive funding, no matter if they are selected by the Foundation or not, if they do not complete the FASFA. If you are selected for an interview, you are encouraged to bring a printed copy of your Student Aid Report with you to the interview so that you are prepared for any financial questions the Foundation may have at the interview.

It does not directly impact your consideration, but would impact what courses you may have in common with other members of the Terry Foundation Scholarship Program at the University of Texas at Arlington.

It needs to be completed and submitted online via the Mav ScholarShop system.

No, all Terry Scholarships are based on starting in the fall semester. 

The University of Texas at Arlington requires all "first time-first year" students to register for and attend and complete a New Maverick Orientation program. In addition to that orientation, there will be a separate orientation for Terry Scholars just before the semester starts. These two orientations are very different and both are required if you receive the scholarship.

Yes! There will be a specific section of UNIV 1131 for the fall and spring semester for Terry Scholars. It is required to take the course in the designated Terry Scholars section each semester your first year.

Taking the Terry Scholar Student Success Learning Community course is a requirement. If you fail to meet any requirements, or drop your Student Success Learning Community course at any time, then you will be removed from the Terry Scholars program, and may lose your scholarship.

Also, given that your housing assignment was based on your participation in the Terry Scholars program, it may also affect your housing assignment.
