Whereas UTA's official Founder's Day is October 7th; and
Whereas The campus does not officially acknowledge this day; and
Whereas Countless other Universities, including Arizona State University, the University of Louisville, Lehigh University, Santa Clara University, Eastern Washington University, Alabama A&M, Virginia Tech, the University of Southern Mississippi, Southern Utah University, Alabama State University, Temple University, Hampton University, Michigan State University, Indiana State University, Grambling State University, Savannah State University, Kansas State University and more all have some type of Founder's Day celebration; and
Whereas These events bring unity to each campus, build school spirit and foster ties with the community and alumni.
Be It Further Resolved That Student Congress laments the lack of a Founder's Day celebration at UTA; and
Be It Further Resolved That Student Congress supports the idea that a Founder's Day celebration should occur on the second Wednesday of October 2003 and annually every year thereafter.
