Whereas | Student tour guides and orientation leaders in the Office of Admissions are employees of the University; and |
Whereas | They are representatives of the University on a daily basis to many prospective students and incoming students; and |
Whereas | The UTA Ambassadors were formerly responsible for campus tours and continue to assist tours as requested; and |
Whereas | The UTA Ambassadors are required to wear a uniform and follow specific guidelines regarding dress and behavior. The UTA Ambassdors Handbook states: 'Ambassadors may not wear or display anything that denotes another organization's affiliation while serving in the capacity of an ambassador (e.g. tattoos, drops, etc. must be covered or not worn).' 'A place on campus exists for every UTA student, whether in the Greek system, student government, student activities, or in one of the more than 200 professional, honor, or social organizations on campus. Every student can get involved, it is our job to positively introduce the realm of opportunities at UTA.' 'Any form of recruiting for your organization while serving in the capacity of Ambassador is grounds for immediate dismissal.' ''Don't ask, don't tell!' If asked, you may state activities and organizations you are involved in, but you may not stress any organization over another or others while speaking to prospective students.' |
Be It Further Resolved That | Student tour guides and orientation leaders be held to the same standards as the UTA Ambassadors regarding dress and behavior and dismissal for violating the above guidelines; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | Student tour guides be required to wear a uniform shirt to be chosen by the Office of Admissions along with khaki slacks, shorts, or skirts; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | Student tour guides be prohibited from wearing non-UTA hats during tours and while in uniform; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | Student tour guides be prohibited from wearing apparel of other universities (e.g. UT-Austin, Texas A&M, etc.) during tours. |
