Whereas The University of Texas at Arlington Parking Rules and Regulations states that reserved parking is available for special events held on campus. The areas designated for special events parking are the Maverick Parking Garage, parking lot #26, and parking lot #40 (section I, Letter S, pg. 5); and
Whereas Other lots not specified in the Parking Rules and Regulations are closed down; and
Whereas The only provisions the parking office makes for closing down a lot are: if the entire lot is to be closed for any amount of time there will be 24 hour notice and if part of a lot is to be closed there will be no notice; and
Whereas The parking office doesn't follow their own guidelines for lot closures; and
Whereas Parking permit holders do not have the opportunity to make alternate parking arrangements because of unexpected unavailability may be forced to illegally park, incur citations and miss class or other appointments.
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington Parking office be required to post clear notification at every entrance/exit, for three days prior to ANY lot closures, whether partial or full; and
Be It Further Resolved That Posting notification must include the date and times that the lot will be closed, when it will become available again for regular parking and for what reason the lot is going to be closed.
