Remarks FAILED - Memo from President Witt dated February 5, 2001, states that "the curriculum decision is appropriately the province of the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts."
Whereas The College of Liberal Arts requires students to pass a total of 14 credit hours of foreign language in order to graduate; and
Whereas Liberal Arts students have gained an appreciation and understanding for language by the time they have completed their first eight credit hours; and
Whereas The remaining six hours of foreign language is often forgotten if not applied on a regular basis.
Be It Further Resolved That The Foreign Language Department offer cultural classes that could replace the last six hours of foreign language requirements if a student chooses to do so.
