Remarks | FAILED - T1 at 1.544Mbps would be slower than what is used currently. UT System mandates this change, not UTA. |
Whereas | UTA currently shares a single T3 (45Mbps) line with UT Dallas, UTSWMSD, local high schools and libraries; and |
Whereas | The growing enrollment and Internet awareness have caused the rate at which information can be transferred through this line to be very slow; and |
Whereas | Recently (September 1999) our portion of the available bandwidth was increased, but this only shortened the waiting times fractionally; and |
Whereas | The estimated operational cost per month for a T1 line is $1200 ($14,400 yearly). |
Be It Further Resolved That | UTA purchase one or more dedicated T1 lines. |
