Remarks IMPLEMENTED - In memo from President Witt dated November 28, 1997.
Whereas Several UTA instructors utilize students' Social Security Numbers (SS#) as opposed to simply students names as a means of establishing class attendance; and
Whereas Using such a list releases each individual student's SS# to an unknown numer of people; and
Whereas This exposurer of SS#'s is a dangerous method by which students may be financially or personally victimized; and
Whereas The Family Education Rights and Privacy act as maintained by UTA already prohibits the use of SSN#'s in directories, as posted grade identifiers, or as class rankings.
Be It Further Resolved That UTA prohibit the practice of utilizing SSN#'s as a means of establishing class attendance.
