Whereas UTA advisors are obligated to assist students with choosing classes, clearing students for these classes, and designating a degree plan; and
Whereas A common relationship with this advisor will assist them in sifting out courses that are beneficial, and be of interest to the students over the process of a four-to-five year period; and
Whereas Many times advisors leave the school making it difficult for students to build this relationship and become comfortable with a single advisor; and
Whereas New advisors do not have the background knowledge and expertise those former advisors had, adding anxiety to the alternative advisor, students, and their degree plan.
Be It Further Resolved That All advisors have a retention agreement set in place for a minimum of 5 years for the benefit of student's academics; and
Be It Further Resolved That Departmental advisor training commence twice a year for all first and former advisors, ensuring that accurate, consistent, and appropriate information is given to the students by all advisors.
