Remarks IMPLEMENTED - Certificates awarded December 3, 1996.
Whereas On September 11, 1996, the UTA Police Department received a report of a possible bomb in the University President's office which they responded to immediately; and
Whereas The UTA Police Department did their job without regard to personal safety; and
Whereas Although it can be argued that it is their job to disregard personal safety, it does not belittle the fact that the officers did so as quickly, and as efficiently as possible; and
Whereas The UTA Police Department has proven that they are competent, and able to do their jobs no matter what the situation; and
Whereas With the help of the Arlington Police Department and the DFW Airport Bomb Squad it was discovered that there was indeed no bomb; and
Whereas It would be fitting for Student Congress to send letters/certificates of recognition to the UTA Police Department, the DFW Airport Bomb Squad, and the Arlington Police Department to show the appreciation of the UTA community.
Be It Further Resolved That Student Congress send letters/certificates of recognition to the UTA Police Department, the Arlington Police Department, and the DFW Airport Bomb Squad expressing the gratitude of the UTA community.
