Remarks IMPLEMENTED - We now have the W.A. Baker Chemistry Research Building.
Whereas Dr. W.A. Baker served UTA with distinction for twenty-plus years; and
Whereas Dr. Baker served as Vice President of Academic Affairs for nineteen years; and
Whereas Dr. Baker is leaving UTA to enrich the lives of students, faculty, and administrators at another institution of higher education; and
Whereas It would be proper that we should show Dr. Baker that he has enriched the lives of all he came in contact with here at UTA; and
Whereas In the past it has been the practice of UTA to name buildings, streets, and/or complexes after past administrators/ faculty of exceptional quality(i.e., Nedderman Drive/ Hall, Pickard Hall, Dudley Wetzel Complex); and Dr. Baker has proven himself to be nothing short of exceptional as both a faculty member, and an administrator; and
Whereas This resolution is in response to faculty members that have expressed the need for UTA to show its appreciation for Dr. Baker's service to our community; and
Be It Further Resolved That UTA change the name of the new science building to honor Dr. Baker for his twenty-plus years of service to our University, our community, and our futures (i.e., Baker Hall, Dr. Baker Hall, W.A. Baker Center),
Be It Further Resolved That That UTA makes the building naming a part of the Centennial Celebration; and
Be It Further Resolved That This resolution take effect immediately.
