Remarks IMPLEMENTED
Whereas Many Student Congress members have not received the proper training to help them effectively represent their constituents; and
Whereas This leads to confusion of the correct path a bill must take in Student Congress and inadequate research; and
Whereas The experienced members have a responsibility to provide proper training for the members of Student Congress.
Be It Further Resolved That The first general session of the academic semester be used to provide a comprehensive and in-depth training program which includes all Student Congress members; and
Be It Further Resolved That The meeting be videotaped and any member who is not present must watch the videotape before being allowed to vote in general or committee sessions; and
Be It Further Resolved That The training session will cover, but is not limited to, the below stated topics in depth as long as it takes to complete: Parliamentary Procedure University Structure: undergraduate assembly, faculty senate, executive committee, university committees, Path of a Resolution Research Guidelines, Writing Legislation, Overview of SC Constitution Bylaws; and
Be It Further Resolved That Current copies of all pertinent updated documents be made available for all members; and
Be It Further Resolved That This shall take effect in the Fall 1994 semester.
