Whereas The University is an educational institution whose primary goal is education. Also, the University dining services, ARA, is here to sreve the faculty and students; and
Whereas ARA will begin serving alcoholic beverages at the Corral as soon as late March. Most consumers will have to drive home after drinking; and
Whereas The ramifications of having a place to get beer and chat on campus is unthinkable. The safety of students and citizens of the community should come before financial opportunities. Also, the Dry Gulch (a former UTA pub) went dry in May 1992 due to unpopularity.
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington prohibit any University dining service from serving alcoholic beverages at dining facilities, with the exclusion of UTA-sponsored events.
