| Whereas | Student Congress receives student information from the University Records Office to publish the University phone directory, the MAVERICK CONNECTION. The information used is public knowledge according to the U.S. Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974; |
| Whereas | Many students do not know that their information will be printed unless requested to be withheld by filling out a form available in the Records Office. |
| Be It Further Resolved That | An option be included on the SAM telephone registration system for each Fall registration to ask the student if they would like their information to be published in the UTA phone directory; and |
| Be It Further Resolved That | An explanation be provided on the SAM system to those students who choose to withhold their information. This explanation should inform the students where to pick up the appropriate form, the last day it can be turned in, and that just choosing the telephone option is not sufficient enough, but that a signature is required. |
