Whereas Studies are in progress to expand the library; and
Whereas The University is waiting on funds to enhance the beauty of the library grounds; and
Whereas Certain individuals using the free speech area are calling the student body of UTA "fornicators, sodomizers, homosexuals, drunks, etc."; and
Whereas Heated debate grows, angering individuals on all sides of the issue argued; and
Whereas Crowds gather in numbers blocking the sidewalks between the free speech area and the library, and innocent students and others come into close contact with these confrontations, possibly endangering their well-being; and
Whereas Non-participants must go out of their way between classes to steer clear of the crowds or proceed slowly through them, and this type of environment is not conducive to higher learning. It is the resonsibility of UTA to protect its students, faculty, and staff from such potentially violent confrontations.
Be It Further Resolved That The free speech area be moved to a more centralized location, preferably in the center of the library grounds, when construction takes place on the library grounds in the indefinite future.
