Whereas The University of Texas at Arlington has recently gone to telephone registration for all services with the exception of parking services; and
Whereas A substantial portion of the UTA student population drive vehicles and park on campus; and
Whereas Currently there is no way of distinguishing a visitor to the University from a student who refuses to purchase a parking permit, thereby forcing visitors to park non-decaled vehicles in student lots; and
Whereas Issuing parking citations to visitors does not enhance the image of the University or improve the relations between the Community, the University, and the Police Department; and
Whereas The parking permit distribution is not as effective and convenient to the students as it otherwise could be.
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington will provide the required automated parking information to the students over the telephone registration system; and
Be It Further Resolved That Each student will be asked, "Do you need a parking sticker?" All students who answer no, will be sent a Parking Sticker Agreement letter in the mail to confirm that they will not park on campus or face a $50 fine (see attached letter); and
Be It Further Resolved That This will serve as official record that students have received official notice of the parking policy.(There is an example form in the hardcopy)
