Remarks IMPLEMENTED
Whereas Elections of any sort tend to lead to distasteful displays of favoritism; and
Whereas Although specific groups and people may deserve recognition for various reasons, it is generally recognized as inappropriate to call for honors via Student Congress legislation to serve selfish ends; and
Whereas There are more appropriate ways to honor people and organizations in Student Congress meetings (announcement phase of meeting, for instance); and
Whereas Student Congress meeting time is valuable and limited.
Be It Further Resolved That Any candidate running for ANY Student Congress office, or any elected position, shall not Author or Sponsor any "honors" Legislation after filing for said office; and
Be It Further Resolved That Any bill filed in spite of this resolution be declared null and void by the Executive Committee prior to bringing said bill to the general meeting.
