Whereas Many accidents happen on campus that relies on city-wide emergency systems to act for treatment; and
Whereas Many college and university campuses (i.e. Texas A&M ' College Station and Rice University) successfully maintain student run volunteer emergency response teams who are certified from EMTs up to Paramedics; and
Whereas Rapid response of medical treatment to students, faculty, and staff on campus is limited; and
Whereas The primary EMS provider for the city of Arlington, AMR, has a slow average response time of 4 minutes and 45 seconds after dispatch to the scene; and
Whereas UTA Police only have basic first aid training to assist in medical emergency situations.
Be It Further Resolved That The University establishes a voluntarily student run Emergency Response System to be able to provide for the well-being of its students, faculty, and staff in any situation.
