Remarks IMPLEMENTED
Whereas Dr. Wendell Nedderman has served as the President of the University of Texas at Arlington the past 19 years; and
Whereas During his presidential tenure, undergraduate enrollment has increased from 13,500 in 1972 to 24,800 in 1990 and graduate enrollment has increased from 936 to over 4000; and
Whereas 20 Baccalaureate, 23 Masters, and 17 Doctoral degree titles have been added during this period; and
Whereas A School of Architecture, a School of Nursing, and a Center for Professional Teacher Education have been added during this period; and
Whereas There are some 20 new buildings(or some major additions to buildings) totaling some 1,600,000 gross sq. ft. of new space; and
Whereas Dr. Nedderman served as the first UTA Dean of Engineering from 1959-1969, Graduate School Administrator from 1967-1969, Vice-President of Academic Affairs from 1968-1972, and President and Professor of Civil Engineering form 1972- present; Dr. Nedderman has maintained a working relationship with and a strong interest in the Student Community and Student Congress; Dr. Nedderman has contributed immeasurably to the strong academic reputation of UTA; A successor will soon be found for the retiring University President.
Be It Further Resolved That Student Congress officially expresses our appreciation by inviting Dr. Nedderman to the next general meeting and present him with an honorary Student Congress T-Shirt.
