Remarks FAILED - Dr. Kent Gardner, Associate VP for Student Affairs, said in a memo dated March 10, 1992, that 1) It would be difficult to find a non-denominational religious speaker that would not offend some religious group, and 2) It's impossible to not use funding for this, as the space rented would have to be in the conference budget.
Whereas The annual leadership conference does not offer a session dealing with leadership issues in a religious context; and
Whereas A non-denominational discussion of religion could benefit the conference participants in developing friendships and understandings with other participants, whether of the same or different religion.
Be It Further Resolved That Student Congress recommends to the Director of Student Activities that a non-denominational religious session be held at this summer's Leadership Conference; and
Be It Further Resolved That In light of the fact that this institution is a state-supported school, said session be explicitly specified as optional to attend and that no funds designated for conference use be applied toward said session.
