Whereas | It is difficult for students to vote in Student Elections at the University of Texas at Arlington due to the lack of information provided about candidates; and |
Whereas | Candidates vying for a position have limited time and space to promote themselves for the student elections; and |
Whereas | The Student Election Forum has had low attendance in recent years, further lowering the incentive for at-large candidates to attend. |
Be It Further Resolved That | Student Congress strongly encourages the Shorthorn to expand election coverage by having Shorthorn reporters write feature articles or create a fair and unbiased election insert for election day newspapers with a focus on at-large candidates. This will give a chance for students to get to know the candidates, while increasing their incentive to go vote in student elections. |
