Remarks FAILED. Ammended in committee.
Whereas It is difficult for students to vote in Student Elections at the University of Texas at Arlington due to the lack of information provided about candidates; and
Whereas Candidates vying for a position have limited time and space to promote themselves for the student elections; and
Whereas The Student Election Forum has had low attendance in recent years, further lowering the incentive for at-large candidates to attend.
Be It Further Resolved That Student Congress strongly encourages the Shorthorn to expand election coverage by having Shorthorn reporters write feature articles or create a fair and unbiased election insert for election day newspapers with a focus on at-large candidates. This will give a chance for students to get to know the candidates, while increasing their incentive to go vote in student elections.
